Sweetcake Quilt with Corey Yoder

Come join Moda Fabric designer and author, Corey Yoder, and learn how to make a Sweetcake block from her brand, new book, “Oh, Happy Day!”.  In this 3-hour class, Corey will walk you through making the block featured in the Sweetcake quilt.  Techniques covered will be square in a square blocks as well as half-square-triangles.

This class is a confident beginner/early intermediate class.

Sweetcake is a beautiful quilt made using half a layer cake (10" squares) and a few additional fabrics. Since a layer cake typically contains 40-42 squares, you'll have extra to make a second quilt or enlarge the one you start in class. Simply double the yardage for the additional fabrics and you'll be set to go! This block looks great when made into a pillow, and the instructions are included in the book.

About Corey

Corey and her husband Ryan married in 1997 and shortly thereafter, she began her love affair with fabric. Like many of us, Corey purchased fabric simply because she liked it and not because she had a plan of how to use it. Eventually, she followed in the footsteps of many of her relatives and began to make quilts. In 2005, the birth of her oldest daughter moved Corey away from the quilting world and into clothing design. She started Little Miss Shabby, a business that was focused on appliquéd  children’s clothing. 2009 saw the birth of another daughter and a renewed focus on quilts. Corey publishes her quilt patterns under the name of Coriander Quilts and designs fabric for Moda Fabrics.
