Come join Moda Fabric designer and author, Corey Yoder, and learn how to make Friends Forever blocks from her brand, new book, “Oh, Happy Day!”. In this 3-hour class, Corey will walk you through making the blocks featured in the Friends Forever quilt. The unique construction of the main quilt block makes this project a two for one. For each main block completed, a secondary block is also made.
This is a beginner-friendly class. Construction methods discussed in this class will be simple piecing including half-square-triangles.When you make the Friends Forever quilt, you'll end up with two completed quilt tops without having to purchase additional print or background fabric. This is there quilt version of those Best Friend Necklaces from elementary school, where you wore one half and your BFF wore the other! These quilts are made using fat quarters, but could be made from yardage or scraps - just cut the correct unit sizes and you'll be set to sew!
Corey and her husband Ryan married in 1997 and shortly thereafter, she began her love affair with fabric. Like many of us, Corey purchased fabric simply because she liked it and not because she had a plan of how to use it. Eventually, she followed in the footsteps of many of her relatives and began to make quilts. In 2005, the birth of her oldest daughter moved Corey away from the quilting world and into clothing design. She started Little Miss Shabby, a business that was focused on appliquéd children’s clothing. 2009 saw the birth of another daughter and a renewed focus on quilts. Corey publishes her quilt patterns under the name of Coriander Quilts and designs fabric for Moda Fabrics.
